Is Money Evil?

Me and my partner had a fight. She said, "Mas pinahahalagahan mo yang pera kesa sakin at sa relasyon natin!

But it wasn't convincing to her.

Consciously, she knew money isn't evil. But deep within, the old programming, "money is the source of all evil," was pulling her.

Yon ang problema ng karamihan. The poor mentality has been programmed within us since we were kids.

I said, "If this(money) is evil, bakit kailangan natin ng at least Php12,000 every single month to feed us, makapag-commute at mabayaran ang mga utility bills?"

"And if this piece of paper is evil, why do we need to earn more of it so that your siblings can keep their education until they finished college? So that we can even pay back to our parents?"

"Are you telling me that we need and works for evil to live and achieve our dreams!?"

"And if money is the root of all evil, then why do they ask for it in church?"

There was a split-second pause.

Maatim mo bang makita and iyong pamilyang nagdurusa at naghihirap?"

At ako?

Dahil kinailangan nyang magtrabaho sa ibang bansa para matustosan kami financially since my mother died when I was 8.

I had this hard feelings I wanted to tell him that,
"I don't need his money, and what I need is him."
"That we'd live together for better or for worse, for richer and poorer."
"That a family should stay together."

That's the teeneager Mark-Lee for you! An ignorant!

Masama ang pera because a father must leave his family for it(money)?

Is money evil?

Then my thoughts snaps back and faced my partner. I no longer want to argue and just gave her my punchline:
"And please tell me, how can this money be evil if the person holding it is very good?
...And handsome?"

She grin and flashed her annoying laugh. (She thought is was a joke!)

Kaybigan, money is evil only if the person holding it is evil.

But money becomes very good if the person holding it is good and with a purpose to serve others.

At alam kong isa kang mabuting tao. That's why I want you to prosper!
